Tuckahoe is pleased to offer its winter swim clinic program beginning November 2, 2017 and running through May 20, 2018. This program is for members and non-members interested in weekly swim instruction (stroke work, starts and turns, improving speed/efficiency, and conditioning). Practices will be geared toward children who may participate in another sport and/or do not want to commit to a year-round swimming program. The program will help all swimmers prepare for next year’s summer swim season as well as help improve their strokes.

Chris McPhaul is returning for his 11th consecutive year to direct the program. Chris swam and helped coach at Tuckahoe (1973-1984), and was a lifeguard and water safety instructor both at Tuckahoe and Auburn University. Previously, he coached Sea Devils Swimming and has also coached soccer and baseball. He is currently active in the Montgomery County Swim League, where he officiates and cheers for his children. The winter program coaching staff will also include accomplished former and current Tuckahoe senior swimmers.

For a third year, Tuckahoe will offer a Sprint Clinic on Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm for experienced competitive swimmers. This clinic is for Tuckahoe members only and focuses on racing skills and improving speed. The program is intended for swimmers who will contend for summer Saturday meets, swimmers who swim as a second sport, and year-round USA swimmers who want to supplement their winter training with a weekly speed session.
